JB & Sandy's Recap Blog

1/29/10 FRIDAY...

6:00 AM: There has been a study that shows there is now affect whatsoever on crash rates by the new texting bans that are in effect.  There is another super bowl ad controversy over an ad for mancrunch.com, a gay dating site for men. 6:15 AM: Alex’s wife went to her “girly doctor” and came home wanting to have a baby.  The doctor has told her that now it’s the time for them to get pregnant, so she’s worried that they’ll wait too long if they don’t have a baby now.  Alex is totally freaked out about this, and was hoping they could have some years together as a married couple before they throw kids into the mix. We debate the pros and cons of having babies when you are young vs. having them when you are older. 6:30 AM: Four things you need to know with Sara. An 8th grade boy attacked an elderly woman at the Taco Bell at Brodie and William Cannon as part of a gang initiation.  They are still looking for the boy, and the woman is in the hospital. Governor Rick Perry is proposing that kids will have to prove they are enrolled in High School or working toward a GED in order to get a driver’s license. City council approved the new water park in Cedar Park at their meeting last night. It will be completed by 2012. General Motors is trying to get Toyota owners to come buy a GM, by giving them $1,000 as an incentive. 6:45 AM:  Tell us your story that ends with the sentence “and then I moved out”.  JB tells the hilarious story of a former girlfriend a long, long time ago.  They were at Disneyland and having a huge fight, and JB said to her “we are at the happiest place on earth, and we are fighting? It’s over”.  Sandy tells us about his first marriage when he was in his late 20’s, when he decided to move out and get his own apartment.  We also took a lot of great calls from our listeners with their own stories about the “final straw” moment. 7:00 AM: Cecily Knobler’s movie reviews for the week.  Edge of Darkness is the new film starring Mel Gibson. Cecily gives that movie a rating of C-. When in Rome, starring Josh Duhamel and Kristen Bell gets the grade of lower than an F-. She thinks the screenwriting is why this film was so terrible, not the acting. 7:15 AM:  Jay Leno was on Oprah yesterday, and it really fired Sara up.  She says she now hates Jay Leno.  We play lots of audio clips from the show, and try and see what he said that made her so mad. 7:30 AM: Four things you need to know with Sara. Brittany Murphy’s husband is suing Time Warner for wrongful death, saying that she died due to stress caused by them.  Jessica Simpson farted during a business meeting, and apparently, this is big news because it’s been all over magazines this week.  Jimmy Kimmel spoke out about Jay Leno last night on his show, telling the inside scoop about when he did the “10 at 10” segment on Jay’s show.  7:40 AM: Alex is playing with the Washington Generals tonight at the Harlem Globetrotters game.  It’s at the Frank Erwin Center, and he is not quite sure what he’s going to be doing, but he has his posse coming out to watch him. 7:45 AM: The week in review—the week’s best moments edited together.  8:00 AM: Sandy’s news stories that didn’t make Sara’s news reports. 8:15 AM:  List of the most popular dog breeds in America.  The Labrador retriever come s in #1 again this year.  8:20 AM: Friday Megamix! 8:30 AM:  Four things you need to know with Sara. There has been a study that shows there is now affect whatsoever on crash rates by the new texting bans that are in effect.  Governor Rick Perry is proposing that kids will have to prove they are enrolled in High School or working toward a GED in order to get a driver’s license. City council approved the new water park in Cedar Park at their meeting last night. It will be completed by 2012, and will also have a 230 room hotel and conference center. There is another super bowl ad controversy over an ad for mancrunch.com, a gay dating site for men. 8:45 AM: The week in review—the week’s best moments edited together.  9:00 AM: We talk to Mark Keister from The Boys and Girls Club of Austin about the Globetrotters game tonight. We have donated 30 tickets for them to come to the game tonight and experience it.  Alex is playing tonight in the game on the Washington Generals side. 9:15 AM: We replay the call we got yesterday from a male listener who is 35 and a virgin. 9:30 AM: Matt Swinney from Launch787 comes in to tell us all about the Modern Home Tour.  It’s tomorrow, and details can be found at www.modernhometouraustin.com. There are many homes around Austin you can go tour, and one has a pool that hangs out over the cliffs! 9:35 AM: Four things you need to know with Sara. Brittany Murphy’s husband is suing Time Warner for wrongful death, saying that she died due to stress caused by them.  The female co-host of Dancing with the Stars is leaving the show. Jessica Simpson farted during a business meeting, and apparently, this is big news because it’s been all over magazines this week.  9:45 AM: We talk to a listener named Sarah who is moving out of Austin tomorrow. Her husband is getting deployed for 11 months, so she’s moving to Oklahoma for the time being to live with family so they can help her with her kids. She said she is going to miss the show, but we hope she will continue to listen online. 9:50 AM: We talk to new listeners who are going to replace Sarah, our listener who is moving.  So, we lose one listener and gain three new ones, not bad!
