The Zilker Tree started going up yesterday and it will be lit on December 4th. Garrett Gilbert is transferring to SMU in January and will be eligible to play for them in 2013. Zooey Daschanel and Ben Gibbard are getting a divorce. A Bermese Python in the everglades ate an adult female deer that weighed 75 pounds. They ended up killing the snake because there was no way it could

6:15 AM: Fact or bull fact. The Asian actor on Glee got his start as a dancing silhouette on iPod commercials. The FDA allows bug parts in cinnamon, and in 1 gram of cinnamon you could legally find the following; 4 legs, or one head, or 2 wings, or a thorax. 1 cup of frozen berries can legally have 2 whole insects in it. Samuel L. Jackson was an usher at Martin Luther King’s funeral. Sporting good stores ordered 3 times more Rangers gear than Cardinals gear prior to the World Series. If you are the MVP of the World Series, you can earn an average of $100,000 more in a lifetime by changing more for autographs. Corona is the #1 imported beer in America, making $943 million a year.

6:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Bank of America is backing off their plan to charge customers a $5 monthly fee for using a debit card. Last night David Arquette was voted off Dancing with the Stars. Lindsay Lohan is going back to court today and she may get sent to jail for violating her probation. Austin City Council is expected to approve the Lance Armstrong Bike Path, which would cost a half a million dollars to complete.

6:45 AM: Americans have a lot of junk in their home, and some more than others as we’ve learned from the TV show Hoarders. The average household stores almost $5,500 worth of junk in their garage. 2/3 of American households say they don’t have room for their cars in the garage because there is so much stored in there.

6:53 AM: 2 minute topic. What are your thoughts on the person who still writes a personal check at the grocery store? It drives most of us crazy, except for Alex whose mom still writes personal checks.  Sandy said it’s his big pet peeve when he’s in line at the grocery store and wants to scream when he sees someone fishing around in their purse for a checkbook. Sara said the worst is when they take up time to balance the checkbook right then and there with a line of people behind them.

7:07 AM: Did any of our listeners have a shorter marriage than Kim Kardashian, whose wedding lasted for only 72 days. Vicki from Cedar Park called and her marriage was 1 month and 2 days long. Her husband left her for the mother of his child. Sheila’s cousin got married and the night of her wedding she went home with another man. Her new husband had the marriage annulled the next day.

7:20 AM: Sandy’s great mustache story. 20 years ago or so, Sandy ran around with Jim, who was a used car salesman. Jim won a contest that got them an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas. It was Sandy’s first time ever flying first class, and Jim was drinking bloody marys the entire flight. The flight attendant even had to calm and quiet them down. They got to Vegas and were ready to tear the town down. Jim drank bloody marys for 6 hours once they arrived at their hotel. By then, Jim’s mustache was coated in tomato juice and smelling terrible. He went upstairs to wash his mustache, and didn’t come back. Sandy went to check on him and he had completely shaved off his mustache. The problem was, Jim had a VERY defined mustache tan line. They decided to buy tan in a can and put that on his white upper lip and it turned his upper lip completely orange.
7:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Hugh Grant is a father for the first time after a one night stand 9 months ago. He is 51 years old. Garrett Gilbert is transferring to SMU in January and will be eligible to play for them in 2013. : A 20 year old woman is demanding Justin Bieber take a paternity test, claiming he is the father of her 3 month old child. An 86 year old woman in Austin drove her car into a pool yesterday and was saved by a bystander.

7:42 AM: Joshua at Occupy Austin.  We got a call from a guy named Joshua who has been at Occupy Austin since day 1 and he wanted to call in and talk about his beliefs and the cause. He said it’s all about “the fat cats” and “corporate greed”. He doesn’t think he should have to pay back his student loans because he didn’t graduate from college, and he thinks that downloading music should be free. He is upset because he hasn’t been able to charge his iPhone and he doesn’t think we should have to pay for them. He is tired of the man bringing him down. He wants to BE a man, not work for the man.
7:52 AM: 2 minute topic. How old should kids be to have a facebook account? We agreed that it may be conservative to say not until they can drive a car, but it might be the right age. We think most kids are probably starting to ask their parents if they can have one around 12 or 13. Cassiday’s friend let their daughter have a Facebook account and she is 8 or 9.

8:00 AM: Coast to coast news in 60 seconds.

8:10 AM: Headlines. A recent statistic shocked and surprised us. It turns out that more people die per year from overdosing on prescription medications than heroin and cocaine COMBINED! That’s pretty shocking. 40 Americans die per day from prescription drug use, which amounts to 15,000 people a year.

8:20 AM: Make Sara Squirm. Today we decided to take this bit in a WHOLE new direction. We turned the lights down and lit a candle. We made Sara sit face to face with Sandy, her knees touching his, holding his hands, and look at him in the eyes. This made her WAY more uncomfortable than anything we’ve done yet! Sandy looked her deep in the eyes and told her how wonderful she is, how much he likes her, and how much he appreciates her. Sara really lost it when he hugged her and tried to kiss her on the cheek. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so tense before.

Austin City Council is expected to approve the Lance Armstrong Bike Path, which would cost a half a million dollars to complete.

8:50 AM: Unknown poll—women, do you LOVE your hair? 100% of our listeners said yes, they do love their hair….in fact they were obsessed with it. This was shocking because in a national poll, only 7% of American women LOVE their hair. Sara loves hers, Cassiday doesn’t love her hair because she always wanted thicker hair or curly hair.
