6:00 AM: Whitney Houston died at 3:55 PM on Saturday afternoon. Adele went 6 for 6 last night at The Grammy Awards. Someone in Rhode Island won a 325 million dollar jackpot from Powerball this weekend. Lance Armstrong did his first triathlon this weekend and came in 2nd behind a guy who medaled silver in triathlons in the Olympics. The Vow made 41.7 million dollars over the weekend, making it 1st place in the box office, followed by Safehouse in 2nd place.
6:15 AM: Alex’s factoid. Today he tells us where the name Uncle Sam comes from. A man name Samuel Wilson was a meat packer back in the day, and U.S. would be stamped on the side of the meat he’d sent. The soldiers started referring to the shipments as “Uncle Sam sending them something”. This stuck, and a political cartoonist created the first image of him.

The BAFTA awards happened over the weekend, and The Artists swept the awards.
6:40 AM: The Grammys. It was a big night for Adele who made her first big comeback after having throat surgery. The Beach Boys performance was good, and JB thought that Foster the People fit in well with it. The Civil Wars got 60 seconds to perform, and it was amazing. The night seemed to really belong to Adele even though Whitney Houston was a big focus of the night.

7:22 AM: There is a company that will pay your mortgage if you let them paint advertisements all over the front of your house. The most popular fast food in America has come out, and Chik-Fil-A is the most popular. 2nd is Panera Bread, 3rd is Chipotle, 4th is Jersey Mikes, 5th is 5 Guys Burgers, and 6th is Papa Murphys. Many parents these days won’t read classic fairy tales to their children because they think they are too scary. Stories on this “too scary” list include; Goldilocks, Cinderella, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Jack and The Beanstock, The Gingerbread Man, and Little Red Riding Hood.
7:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Brad Pitt was on Inside the Actor’s Studio this weekend, and said he had a few odd jobs before having his big break. He dressed up as a chicken for El Pollo Loco and also was a chauffer for strippers who were hired to work private parties. Whitney Houston’s greatest hits album has sold around 50,000 copies since her death on Saturday. A group will try to recover fuel from the ship in Italy that crashed and capsized. The Vow made 41.7 million dollars over the weekend, making it 1st place in the box office, followed by Safehouse in 2nd place.
7:40 AM: JB’s Grammy notes; Bruce was trying to recreate a sense of Americana that is lost. Paul McCartney was a snoozer. Katy Perry killed it but he didn’t like her blue hair. Adam Levine is too skinny. Kelly Clarkson is a genuine talent who looks like she loves performing. Chris Brown shouldn’t have been allowed to perform. The Civil Wars were awesome. Bruno Mars was not enjoyable. Adele was amazing and he wises her acceptance speeches were longer. Happy that Bon Iver was nominated and won, and having Jennifer Hudson do the tribute to Whitney Houston was a good call.

8:20 AM: Sara got a dog this weekend! He is a black lab named Jet, and she has been looking for a month to decide what dog she wanted. He was a homeless dog who was found wandering the streets of Austin with another dog. The other dog was adopted by a family in South Austin and Sara got their information so she can arrange playdates for the dogs.

9:15 AM: Marines did a jungle survival course on Monday and it included some crazy stuff. They had to kill a cobra and drink its blood. They also had to eat edible bugs and behead a chicken. An Austin man named Ricardo Luna was at XTC Gentleman’s Club on Sunday night until 4 am. He offered a dancer crack cocaine in exchange for a lap dance, and was arrested.
9:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Betty White won a Grammy last night for best spoken word album. Katy Perry sang a new song at The Grammys last night, and it sounded like a jab at Russell Brand. Whitney Houston died at 3:55 PM on Saturday afternoon. Adele went 6 for 6 last night at The Grammy Awards.
