A California Highway Patrol officer made news over the weekend for saving a Chihuahua from the Jersey barrier on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek, about 16 miles outside Oakland.
No one’s sure how the dog got there in the middle of rush hour. Officer Alex Edmon says he could tell the dog was very frightened because “it was shaking.” Well, sure, but isn’t that what Chihuahuas do most of the time anyway?
Regardless, it makes a wonderful canine interest story, and has great potential to turn into a public relations coup for the CHP. Can you imagine the posters?
