Health Heads Up...

A mystery illness has hit north of Houston. Symptoms mimic the flu, but out of eight confirmed cases, all have tested negative for the flu. It appears to be causing kidney failure. Tests are being performed to try to figure out what it is and how to stop/treat it. So far it's taken 4 lives that they know of. Click here for the full story!

I posted this on the MIX FB page, and there are several comments. Kaeleigh, who is in the area that has the mystery illness, shared some tips they are telling them to try to stay healthy for the Holidays:
(Yes..that's her singing w/ Pat from Train.. NICE!)

• Frequent hand washing with soap and water/hand sanitizer
• Coughing or sneezing into a bent elbow to avoid contamination of the hands
• Avoiding public places if you have a fever (a temperature of 100.4° f)
• Avoid sending sick children to school
• Adults should avoid going to work or public places if they have fever or ILI symptoms; if they must go to work or public places, they should wear a mask
• If you develop ILI symptoms, you should seek care by a physician because treatment for influenza is most helpful within the first 48 hours of the illness
