Extreme Makeover Home Edition ROCKED it in Bastrop this week. The Zdroj family had the big reveal this week. Terri, from our sister station MAJIC 95.5, had a chance to check out the new pad the day before the reveal. I thought I would share a few of her pictures she got. The furnishings came from the Home Consignment Center which Rocks!. Over 3,000 volunteers helped on this project. A definite Labor of Love!
Volunteers needed to help the folks in Bastrop with a fantastic rebuild with 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition". Here's some 411 (KVUE):
Because Bastrop was hit so hard by the Labor Day wildfires, the show has chosen the city to be the location for one of their builds.
The project will start on Dec. 7, and the Bastrop family, who has yet to be revealed, should see their new home on Dec. 14.An average of 3,000 volunteers are needed to pull off the entire project. Anyone with construction skills such as framing, roofing pluming, etc. are encouraged to participate as well as hundreds of helping hands are needed to serve food, pass out water bottles, pick up trash, etc. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
*Central Texans are asked to attend a free community pep rally Tuesday night that will kick off the event. The pep rally will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for Performing Arts (in the main auditorium) at 1401 Cedar Street, Bastrop, TX 78602. TheAustin Police DepartmentHighway Enforcement Command will be creating a Pedestrian Enforcement Safety Team, also known as PEST, to conduct a pedestrian initiative through Nov. 5.
They said the goal is to educate the community on pedestrian laws and to conduct enhanced enforcement operations. Police said they will choose locations based on crash data analysis.
Pedestrian violations include:
Pedestrian crossing at point other than crosswalk
Disregard pedestrian control device
Solicitation by pedestrian
Pedestrian crossing where prohibited. For example, MoPac and Interstate 35.
The 'Longhorns' may be off this weekend, but there is still a bunch of good times going on in ATX this weekend. Traffic is expected to be horrible, especially downtown. Give yourself plenty of time to get around. Carpooling is strongly encouraged if you are headed downtown, especially on Saturday. WOW parking is also going to be a Bi-a---tch!!
Taylor Farms Retail Inc. is voluntarily recalling 3,265 cases of various bagged salad blends that have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
The Salinas, Calif., company said Wednesday that its action comes after the Washington state Agriculture Department conducted a random test on a finished package of spinach.
The items were distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Puerto Rico and sold in various retail supermarkets.

I was giddy to hear that my #1 on my 'Fantasy Laminated List' would be in ATX during the Austin Film Festival. Johnny Depp is getting honored for all his talented hard work, his hotness is just a bonus.
Actor Johnny Depp will be in Austin for the Austin Film Festival! He will be our first-ever recipient of the Festivalâs inaugural Extraordinary Contribution to Film â Acting Award. Depp will also present Distinguished Screenwriter Awardee Caroline Thompson with her Award and be on hand for screenings of his new film The Rum Diary (based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson) and a retrospective of Edward Scissorhands with Thompson.
AFF is honoring Depp for his collective body of work, his contribution to the culture of film and, above all, for his recognition and support of the importance of writing and the value of the writer, made apparent by many of his film choices and working relationships with writers like Austin Film Festival alums Terry Rossio & Ted Elliot, John August, Peter Hedges, and, of course, Caroline Thompson.

Workers, now trying to complete the final three flyovers bridges at the key highway intersection, will be pouring cement overhead on one of those bridges Saturday night. So, to protect those who otherwise would be beneath that work, the Texas Department of Transportation has several lane closures planned over a 14-hour period.
On I-35:* Northbound on the expressway will be reduced to one lane between Stassney Lane and Ben White from 1:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday.* Southbound on the expressway will be reduced to one lane between Oltorf Street and Ben White from 4:30 a.m. to noon Sunday.* The northbound access road will be just one lane between Teri Road and Ben White from 10 p.m. Saturday to 2:30 a.m. Sunday, then closed entirely at St. Elmo Road from 2:30 a.m. to noon Sunday. Cars on the access road will be detoured on St. Elmo and Woodward Street. All of which means that for about three hours in the middle of the night, northbounders will have only that detour and a single freeway lane to get by.
On Ben White:* The eastbound access road will be reduced to one lane between Congress Avenue and I-35, and closed entirely at I-35, from 3 a.m. to noon Sunday.
The $26 million project should be complete sometime in November, according to TxDOT.

To honor his mother-in-lawâs memory he organized for three consecutive years a Free to Breathe® event in Providence, R.I., where he lived at the time, to raise funds to support the National Lung Cancer Partnershipâs vital research, education and awareness programs.
At the end of 2010 Dan and his family packed their bags and moved to Austin, Texas and he has vowed to continue his mission by organizing the inaugural Free to Breathe® Austin 5K Fun Run/Walk, 1 Mile Walk and Kidsâ Dash on Saturday, November 5. These new hours apply to all street-side parking meters located between Cesar Chavez and 10th Street and from Lamar Boulevard to IH-35. All parking meters outside of this downtown area will have hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. As of now, one dollar can still buy you an hour of parking, with three hours still being the limit

Tomorrow/Saturday, October 8th marks the first ever House of Torment SCAREvenger Hunt. Armed with clues and cameras and dressed in their best zombie and monster attire, teams of up to 4 will be hitting the streets of Downtown and Central Austin for a scavenger hunt of ghoulish proportions. Entry fee is $10 per person and includes participation in the scavenger hunt, access to the Gattiâs Pizza after-party at the House of Torment, and a $15 House of Torment card that can be used toward tickets, Containment or the Scare Store. Prize packages will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams as well the winners of the costume contest. The SCAREvenger Hunt kicks off at 4:30 at Republic Square Park. I took a little ice cream break today when Cool Haus dropped by in the parking lot! Ice Cream cookie sandwiches you create your own.   I popped mine in the freezer for later. A Chocolate Cookie and Dirty Mint Chip Ice Cream sandwich. Of course I took a bite or 2 before it was freezer bound. OMG! YUMMY! Check it out on S. Lamar!  Also ask about their traveling truck I ran into today. The extra cool thing is the paper they serve your Ice Cream goodie in is made out of paper, edible and environmentally friendly. No paper/wrappers to toss out. You can eat it! Brilliantly Yummy!
Ted & I hit the road over the weekend to Fredericksburg. My mission was to get some 'Sweet Potato Butter' and a 'Sweet Pretzel'. We got those and even discovered another YUMMY! We had the pleasure of meeting Martin & Angela Santamaria, the owners of Santa Maria Cellars in Fredericksburg. I bought a bottle of Muscat Canelli. It is very sweet and smooth. A fantastic after taste with no harsh burn going down. If you like Asti Spumante, you will love Santa Maria's Muscat Canelli. I also tasted the Cabernet Sauvignon. I'm not into Cab wine to much, because many times it's either too dry/ and or has that harsh,what I call the 'Wine Burn', when it's going down. Santa Maria's Cabernet Sauvignon blend was nothing but a full robust flavor and very smooth. I LOVE THAT TOO!
Check out what they have. The prices are good too, for a really yummy bottle of wine. Martin signed my bottle, which I thought was very cool. Perfect for a chill night, with dinner, holidays coming up. It would make great gifts! I really enjoyed it. Awesome wine right in our backyard. :)

If you are planning a road trip for Labor Day weekend, this is good to know. Speed limits will now be the same during night and day driving, and separate speed limits for trucks have been eliminated. The maximum speed limit on state highways may be raised to 75 miles per hour if approved after a finding by TxDOT that the increased speed would be reasonable and safe following an engineering and traffic investigation. Verizon has announced it will carry the ESPN-backed network for its FiOS TV subscribers. The 24-hour channel dedicated to University of Texas sports launches Friday and will broadcast the Longhorns' first game against Rice on Sept. 3.
ESPN and Texas announced a $300 million, 20-year deal for the network in January.
The Verizon distribution deal puts the network within reach of about 4 million viewers nationally. Verizon officials say it will eventually also be available to FiOS TV subscribers online, on tablets and smartphones.
Texas and ESPN have not yet announced any major cable or satellite carriers for the network.(KEYE)

Austin police released video of red light crashes caught on tape at several intersections around Austin.
In the last year and a half, seven people have died as a result of someone running a red light. More than 800 people have been injured in red light crashes. Click here for more story thanks to KXAN!
"BrightBlue plans to charge admission of $5 for attendees age 11 and older, but will have one free night for the public and another free night for military personnel and their families. The city will get back $1 for every ticket sold.
As we explained in a story earlier this week, BrightBlue envisions a Trail of Lights that includes the usual 40 or lighting displays and some new ones; a grouping of Austinâs best food trailers; an expanse of artificial snow; a bonfire; flash mobs; a 5K run; and two stages, one for performances like dance troupes and choir groups and one for live music every Friday and Saturday night.
But city staffers still need to negotiate and sign a final contract with BrightBlue, which could take another few weeks â leaving just a few months to prepare for the event."
The National Weather Service has issued a 'Heat Advisory' until 10pm Friday... A heat advisory is only issued when the heat index exceeds 105 during the day and 80 at night for two days in a row...
Austin has activated Phase 1 of its Special Operations Plan for Heat Emergencies
which focuses on monitoring at-risk populations for increased risk of heat-related illness.
Everyone in the area is encouraged to do the following -
Stay cool - Keep your body temperature cool.
-Stay in air conditioning as much as possible.
-Wear light-weight clothing
-Take cool showers and baths.
-Check on those most vulnerable twice a day
Stay hydrated - Because your body loses fluids through sweat, you can become dehydrated during extreme heat. Drink more water than usual, especially if you are working or exercising outside. Avoid alcohol and sugary drinks.
Officials say that if surveillance activities while in Phase 1 reveal enough heat related illness, Phase 2 will be kicked in and cooling centers around the city will be activated.
*Excessive heat also means more energy use! You are being asked to cut down on your energy use'
Electric Reliability Council of Texas,or ERCOT, is asking everyone to conserve. The operator of the state's transmission grid wants us to cut down on electricity use during the peak hours of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. ERCOT is expecting peak use between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, which means outages could dry up reserves.
Here are some tips to handle the heat:
turn off everything you can between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
When you leave your house set your AC to 85 degrees
Drink plenty of water and soak your feet in water if you have to be outside

Mimi was a miracle worker. I got Solar Nails for the 1st time. Most fake nails make my real ones very thin/weak.
I'll have to see if this is the case later on down the road, but for now, my hand looks WAY BETTER..

On my niece Kaiti's B Day list was 'Someday' perfume/Justin Bieber's new smell. I find it odd a boy has a perfume out for girls, but it's a hot seller. Also, when I was at one of my favorite stores, DSW, I ran into a 'Cute Pair of Uggs'. I'm not a big fan of the 'Uggs' especially wearing boots with shorts in the summer. I actually saw a girl wearing some the other day in 100 plus heat. That is fashion dedication for sure. Well, no more feet sweats for Ugg Lovers with these..
Like the boots, the shoes also come with a higher price tag, but
way more affordable at DSW. My Big size 11s modeled these for the picture.
I ended up getting 2 pairs of shoes for the price of this one pair.Now if these end up
on DSW clearance, let me at them. I'm always up for a really 'Good/Great Buy'!
Music lovers interested in the Austin City Limits Festivalâbut hesitant to travel downtown for the eventâwill be able to view a live feed of performances through YouTube, the website will announce today.
The Associated Press reports the Google-owned YouTube will bring live streams to its site for both ACL as well as Lollapalooza, a music festival held in Chicago from Aug. 5â7.
By streaming the popular music festival, YouTube management says they hope it will attract millions of viewers. When YouTube streamed the Price William and Kate Middleton wedding, approximately 72 million people logged in to watch the event online.
YouTube says it will offer a live feed of performances as well as a secondary feed for backstage interviews.
The construction of flyovers for the Mopac/290 intersection in South Austin has been stopped after the contractor overseeing the project declared bankruptcy.
According to Texas Department of Transportation spokesman John Hurt, Wiser Construction walked off the job last week.
The project was slated to be completed by December, but now Hurt says it will take several months to get a new contractor on the site.
Maybe be could get L.A.'s  405 contractor, they finished early this weekend!! They would have been fined $6,000 for every 10 minutes they were late. As it is now, they get a $300,000 bonus for finishing early. The work included major bridge repair too... pretty amazing !!

Imagine if Austin had a bike share system, where locals and tourists could check out a bicycle
from a self-service station, pedal from Barton Springs to South Congress, then zip up to a kiosk
near the University of Texas to return it.
Denver, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Minneapolis all have such systems, and San Antonio
launched one this spring.
Now a group of private supporters, led by Mellow Johnnyâs Bike Shop, is rallying to make an
Austin bike share system a reality.
On Thursday, the bike shop will host a demonstration and presentation by B-Cycle, which operates
a program in San Antonio. Theyâll demonstrate how the system works and let visitors test ride the
sturdy bikes.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at Mellow Johnnyâs Bike Shop, 400 Nueces Street
. The shop will provide appetizers and refreshments.
The San Antonio system started with 14 stations. The Austin system likely would be larger, with
about 50 stations and 550 bikes in the downtown grid.
âWe are working to build private sector support for a bike share system that has a lot of interest
and a groundswell of financial support already,â Mellow Johnnyâs general manager Craig Staley
said in a press release.

Update Tuesday 6/28:- My 2 cents Transformers 3 :Dark of the Moon review:  I was so excited yesterday to see my 1st IMAX movie at the Bob Bulluck Museum. I was not disappointed when it came to the B.B Imax. It Rocked! The ultimate 3-D experience for sure. I was also excited that my Honey Ted and I were having a date night to the movie. He's a BIG Transformers fan, way back from the '80s. He was excited to see how they did with T3 and the 3-D effects! As far as the 3-D it was very COOL! The movie as a whole. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!! The script was poor, directing poor.. it seemed more like scene by scene rather than a movie with flow. The acting was mediocre to VERY POOR. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who took over for Megan Fox as Sam's love interest Carly, she was Beautiful! We all know a Victoria Secret Model. Director Michael Day wanted us all to know 'She's a Pretty Girl'. We definitely got that message. (If this was the movie, it would be expected that she appear, so I have to put her picture in) Â
Just a small picture, a tease of the many more larger than life sized scenes you will catch her in. Her introduction in the movie should make her personal trainer a busy person in Hollywood! Ted was upset that they were showing her more in a scene with Patrick Dempsy (Yep Dr. McDreamy), who played her boss Dylan, rather than his uber expensive cars. He said out loud, Show the car not her.!!' That's why I LOVE HIM.. LOL!!
As far as Rosie's acting debut...did you ever see Mariah Carey's 'Glitter' or at least the trailer? I missed Megan/Mikaela's more beautiful tomboy-ish nature.  Also in this movie, the Autobots had a strong showing in the action parts, but not much as far as their characters and personalities like the earlier movies. The movie seemed about 1/2 hour to long too (run time about 2 1/2 hours).   Transformers 3 opens Friday 7/1. I know it will make a butt load of $$$ over the holiday weekend. But as an over all movie, minus the special effects/3-D, it would have been more of a B movie. The effects save the movie! There are some VERY COOL action scenes/stunts, but there was  fewer of those scenes compared to others that were  mucking the movie up!  Â
In the word's of USA Today -Â 'Tranformers 3 might as well have been written by a machine, given its tin-eared comedy and noisy soullessness.'Â
... I'm checking out a screening tonight! I'll let you know if it's worth the $10 plus bucks to see it. from the trailer it looks like it ROCKS!!

The Austin police bomb squad was called out to work a suspicious chemicals incident this afternoon near the Triangle, resulting in one arrest.
The incident took place shortly after noon at the Health and Human Services building in the 4800 block of North Lamar. Officials said a man walked into the building with a box full of chemicals, intending to start up his own drug lab in the stairwell of the parking garage.
When police arrived, they found the man singing and chanting loudly.
No word from authorities on what chemicals the man had in his possession

(KEYE) The ROT Rally is expected to have more than 50,000 participants this year, and organizers say more than 200,000 spectators could be on the downtown streets of Austin.
Friday the parade of bikes from the Expo Center begins at 7:45 p.m. Friday. It takes about a half hour to arrive downtown.

APD announces âNo-Refusalâ for R.O.T. Rally
The Austin Police Department will enforce a âNo-Refusalâ initiative for the R.O.T. Rally on June 10, 2011 and June 11, 2011. Â Both days the initiative will start at 9 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. the following morning.
The DWI initiative is an effort to enforce DWI laws, keep the public safe, and to conduct blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to give a breath or blood specimen as required by law. This includes the new DWI laws that went into effect starting Sept. 1, 2009. A high number of DWI arrests are made in Austin each year. About 53% of last yearâs traffic fatalities were alcohol related.
APD is focused on saving lives on the streets and highways of Austin and making Austin roadways safe for everyone through education and enforcement.

Republic of Texas Biker Rally May Affect Downtown Traffic Friday
Beginning Friday, June 10, 2011 between 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 3 a.m. the Republic of Texas Biker Rally will take place and travelers should expect some delays in the downtown area.
The motorcycle parade will begin Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Travis County Expo Center around 7:30 p.m. Cyclists will be accompanied by police escort to control traffic and help ease temporary delays. Once the parade departs from the Expo Center, it will travel toward downtown along E. MLK Boulevard, Webberville Road, Oak Springs Road, E. 11th Street, and west on E. 11th Street. Partial road closures along this route are anticipated for the duration of the moving parade.
The parade will conclude along Congress Avenue, and full road closures will take place between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m. for the remainder of the ROT Rally downtown, including Congress Avenue between Cesar Chavez and 11th Streets, and streets intersecting Congress Avenue between Brazos and Colorado streets.
For those traveling in the area, alternate routes are recommended including north and south along IH-35, Lamar Boulevard, and Guadalupe Street, and east and west along Cesar Chavez and 15th streets. Both directions on 11th, southbound Colorado, and northbound Brazos streets will remain open throughout the event.

The event will culminate by presenting a LifeStyle Award. This award exemplifies an individual or couple who, through an outward reflection of their heart and soul, is committed to strength of character, inspirational leadership, and service to others. following 4 families who are trying to 'GO ZERO'..

 Starting today episodes will air Fridays at 7 p.m. on Channel 6 and austinrecycles.com.
Dare to Go Zero is the City of Austinâs first reality TV show and is designed to educate Austin residents about how to go Zero Waste in their homes. Four Austin families will try to reduce the amount of waste they generate while documenting their progress on camera. Weekly âdaresâ will test the familiesâ recycling and waste reduction knowledge and provide a chance to win eco-friendly prizes. The ultimate prize: a Sustainable Home Package worth more than $2,000.
The Grand Prize
 Each week, the City will weigh the familiesâ trash. The family with the largest percentage of âwaste lossâ by the last episode will be the winner and will receive a Sustainable Home Package worth more than $2,000. The package includes:
Up to $2,000 in energy-saving improvements for the winnerâs home. The winning family can choose appliances, fans, lighting, etc., depending on what their home needs.
A Video Release and Waiver Form MUST be signed prior to auditioning. Each team member must bring this signed form to the audition. Download here.

Entercom Austin/MIX 94.7 sets aside a day each year for employees to
do something for the community that they live in. Today we are planting
wildflowers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
Giving back for the beauty the center creates for ATX! If you wonder why you
don't hear me today, that's what I'm doing. :) I'm going to try to find my 'Green Thumb',
which isn't going to be easy for me. I don't have much luck with plants.
I'll try to keep them ALIVE & PRETTY! :) I really don't want to be kicked out
of the center for harming the WFs!

28 catalytic converter thefts have occurred citywide in March to date. In nealy all cases, TOYOTA 4-RUNNER vehicles were targeted. Thefts occurred in overnight hours in residential neighborhoods.Â
Catalytic converters resemble mufflers and are located underneath vehicles as part of the exhaust system. They contain precious metals such as platinum, making them valuable targets for thieves. The exhaust pipe is typically cut or unbolted to remove the catalytic converter.

*I-35 going north with be closed just north of Stassney Lane beginning at 10 a.m.
Friday and is scheduled to reopen Monday at 5 a.m. As part of that project, Ben White Boulevard traffic will be shifted to
the frontage road and taken down to two lanes. Ben White Boulevard should reopen sometime Saturday afternoon.
Unlike the previous I-35 closures, the State Highway 130 and State Highway 45 tolls will not be waived.
-Expect closures along Congress Ave between Barton Springs Road and Cesar Chavez Street for
the Texas Independence Day Parade and 5K Run. The closures start at 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Suggested detours are Red River Street, Lamar Boulevard and Fifth and Sixth streets.
-The Zilker Park Kite Festival will close Barton Springs Road between Robert E. Lee Road
through Rollingwood Drive on Sunday.
The shutdown begins from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Alternate routes include Lamar Boulevard and Cesar Chavez, Fifth and Sixth streets.
Parking downtown: (KXAN)People will have to pay for meter parking in Downtown Austin from 8 a.m. until midnight Monday through Saturday.
Still, Sundays will remain free.
Citywide, people will have to pay for meters from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sundays would still be free.
This would also affect those who park on the University of Texas campus, where those hours would go from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Meanwhile, the rate of $1 per hour would remain the same.
It's Texas Independence Day!
Here's a cool site I ran across after seeing

and depending on availability Saturday, the entirety of the week.
 Ted and I were driving home last night on SB 35! Traffic was backed up because of a minor
fender bender. So of course while you are stuck, you start looking around and we noticed
a Mountainer SUV in front of us was playing a movie. Ted was trying to figure out
what the movie was. At first looked like it could be a cartoon, but then the picture
became more clear, once it zoomed out on the blonde wig the 'Actress' had on.
I said, looks like a dude in a pool and a woman is.... "OH.. It's a Porno'.
  Of course we were SURPRISED! Then we were thinking, isn't it illegal to have
porn running in your vehicle when you are in public. Of course, we couldn't
stop looking at it, because it was right where you looked when you are driving.
 There were a couple of times a car would cut us off, but then immediately
move out from behind the 'Porn SUV'. One of the cars that cut us off,when
they saw the Porn, they swerved so quick to get away, we thought they might
run into the guard rail.  So we decided to follow the vehicle so no others
would come up behind it, especially with kids! When it was time for us to
get off 35, we got a head just enough to see it was a woman driving the car.
ANOTHER SHOCKER! Not who I expected to see driving! Of course
the screen was behind her, for the backseat. It didn't look like anyone
was in the back seat(no kids thank goodness).She was moving along
like nothing was up! (No Pun intended)Â It was like she didn't realize
what was playing behind her. Â
 So Ted and I were thinking what if she was borrowing her boyfriend's/hubby's/
guy friend's car. Didn't realize that was in. Maybe the movie starts up when the
car does. That would be an interesting cop pull over. Miss you know why I pulled
you over right? NO? You have Porn playing in the back. WHAT???? .. So it was an interesting ride home last night! Ted tried to find out
if playing porn while driving your vehicle was illegal. From what he was
finding it isn't. Some people who have gotten a ticket with something
along those lines were pulled over for another reason, that was tacked on
in some way! One was for wreckless driving while using a battery powered device
while the movie was playing. (another woman... didn't realize ladies were so freaky
on the road) Â Â Â Â Â It definitely is a first that I have run into on the road.
Do you think it should be illegal/ticket worthy to have 'Porn' playing
in a vehicle while driving? I think I already know Charlie Sheen's answer!!!   What about you?

AUSTIN -- Construction on the new flyovers at Interstate 35 and Ben White Freeway will cause the closure of the north and southbound lanes of the interstate this weekend, weather permitting. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says the southbound lanes will be detoured to the access road at the Woodward St exit (# 231) beginning around 10:00 PM Friday. The northbound closures are expected to start at approximately 6:00 AM Saturday. Northbound traffic will detour to the access road on a temporary ramp constructed north of the US 290/SH 71 exit (#230). Southbound traffic wishing to reach eastbound Ben White Fwy will turn around at Stassney Ln and return on the northbound access road. Northbound traffic wanting to go to westbound Ben White will turn around at Oltorf St and return on the southbound access. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
The closures are associated with TxDOTâs $26-million project to add four new direct-connection ramps to the interchange and are required to place steel beams over the interstate main lanes. These beams will provide support for the deck of the direct connector from westbound US 290 to the southbound interstate. When the project is completed, two ramps will connect east and westbound Ben White Freeway to southbound Interstate 35; two additional ramps will connect northbound interstate traffic with east and westbound Ben White.
During the closures, two lanes in each direction will be maintained through the ramps and on the access roads. One access road lane will be utilized for local traffic. Intersections will be closed to crossing traffic, and main lane traffic will be continuous. More details are available.
The northbound lanes will be closed the weekend of March 4 to complete the westbound to southbound structure.

The Austin Music Office proudy presents its newest CD, âAustin Music, Volume 10,â celebratig 10 years of Austin music and 20 years of being the "Live Music Capital of the World." The celebration will take place on Wednesday, February 23 at The Parish and feature performances from 10 Austin bands including Mother Falcon, TV Torso, Danny Malone, Ocote Soul Sounds, and The Bright Light Social Hour.
The 14-song compilation album features diverse genres that define Austinâs music scene.
This year, music fans can also purchase limited edition vinyl as well as download stickers,
along with a mini Austin music guide with maps and club listings.
The 2011 compilation is the tenth in a series produced by
the Austin Music Office to promote the cityâs live music scene.

I have great news about Christian. He reached remission and has been there for 6 months! Technically heâs not cured, the medication keeps his leukemia in remission and would return if he stopped treatment. Still, the medication is a miracle. He is healthy and happy. Weâre all doing great.
I wanted to share this great news with you. I also have a second agenda.  I want to do something to give back, and Iâve joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societyâs âTeam In Trainingâ program. They provide training so I can participate in a 100 mile cycle race. In exchange I must raise at least $4,500 in donations. Both numbers are a little scary, but it wouldnât be a challenge if was easy would it? J Iâve never seriously cycled before and Iâm looking for a bike now. Â
Iâm confident Iâll find a bike and get in shape for the challenge, but the large donation amount is intimidating. Iâm looking for any help I can get in getting the word out.
 LLS funded the research that ultimately saved my sonâs life and itâs really important for me to try to do something to help others in the same situation.Â
I just started this week.

Her answer: "LOL the hair...Waterstone spent several hours on that one! and the makeup too Apparently the girl, Ana Castro, is used to doing "wigs" that look like Marie Antoinette...but she did it with my own hair plus she added in some fake hair too. It took me one hour to take out all the bobby pins and then another hour or so to comb out all the hair spray and teasing in the shower...LOL...that was the not so fun part... ;)"

Because of the upcoming severe cold/freezing weather, water pipes in our community may freeze and burst if all of us do not take immediate action. Please take the following precautions as soon as you read this notice (and ensure these steps are followed should you be leaving town).
1. Please drip all the faucets in your apartment. Drip both the HOT and COLD water. Please leave the faucets dripping until we remove the FREEZE ALERT signs at the entrances to our community.
2. Turn on the heat and leave it at the 65° minimum mark. Open your closet and cabinet doors to expose plumbing fixtures so that these spaces will remain ventilated with warm air.
3. If residents are gone, we will be entering the apartments to take these same precautions. (Please remember to notify the office.)
These precautions are essential in order to avoid substantial damage to your apartment from broken pipes. If you have negligently failed to take these precautions, you may be liable for damages to your neighborâs apartment and that of yours. This is especially important if you do not have current/up to date insurance to cover this damage. Per your TAA signed lease agreement, renterâs insurance is required.
We strongly recommend that you make sure that your renterâs insurance is up to date to cover unexpected damage from water, fire, windstorm, etc., to your personal belongings. The community owner and management company assume no liability for personal loss.

"...my only jobs are to bring out the decorations, and hang lights. i like to take my time and whine about how cold it is, then i get no flack for havin to help on the other stuff lol.. i am good at feigning exhaustion. i really like the end result though, well worth it. The tree and the garland the christmas chachkees and what not. The lights are the best, this year in addition to the roof lighting i hammered a big pole in the ground and made a lighted tree.

Have you ever wondered why Sheriffâs Deputies are always gathering at Convenience Stores? Or what the deputies are doing while they are sitting on the side of the road parked next to one another?  Or why the jails are always over crowded? Or why traffic deputies always seem to be in a bad mood?  For the answer to these and many other questions sign up for the Sheriffâs Citizensâ Academy.  The Sheriffâs Citizensâ Academy is a free course that, while it doesnât certify you as a deputy, it does inform you of how the Sheriffâs Office works and how your tax dollars are being spent concerning law enforcement and the jail. You will get to meet Sheriffâs Office employees and find out what it takes to be a Deputy or Corrections Officer and serve the citizens of Travis County. You will find out about everything from the selection process through training and working on a shift. This FREE course meets on Tuesday nights from 6:45 PM to 10:00 PM.     Â
The next class starts on February 15, 2011 so send in your application today. The class is open to anyone who is 21 or over, and lives or works in Travis County.  Â

One of My  Biggest Pet Peeves!!! Stop Reading, Texting, Curling your Hair.. Yep, I actually saw a woman with a full sized curling iron plugged into
her dash...curling her hair while driving! Hate to imagine what
she'd look like if she got in a wreck with a 'HOT IRON" added to the mix...
I wasn't able to get a picture, because I was driving which would
have been dangerous to add me taking pictures with my phone while driving!! ... stop putting on Make UP, Playing Video Games.... balancing your
check book, shaving, dressing, playing with your Little ones in the backseat (see lot of mini van drivers do this).. whatever else keeps your Eyes off the Road
for a pretty lengthy amount of time!!!
-Can I add, have a Little Patience, and quit driving on the shoulders of roads like
360... just because you have your Turn Signal on doesn't mean it's okay to drive a mile down
the shoulder before your turn....

Jersey Boys @ the Bass Concert Hall!
Was it Good?  IT WAS FANTASTIC!!
LOVED IT! The story of Franki Valli/Four Seasons..
Their rise to fame, their success & failures that
got them to the 'Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame'. The
story was EXCELLENT and the Music fit in at
just the right moments... It was amazing how many
songs I knew! This was the 1st Show I've come out
Dancing around and Singing... which was
what most of the Audience did too. Pretty much
everyone there walked out with a SMILE!
The whole production was TOP NOTCH!
I LOVED IT! I thought going into it ...it could
be CHEESY! NOT A BIT!!  IT WAS FANTABULOUS!
A Perfect Date night... out w/ Friends.. Family...
My Hubby Ted said it was a Musical/Show that
even most GUYS would like. My Friend Steve who
went with us, said it was his' Most Favorite Show' he's
seen so far! We all Agreed that 'Jersey Boys' is a
MUST SEE for those who want to experience
a show that pulls you in, has a Great Story line, Stellar Talent
and makes you feel like you are part of their History

I was in Target in Harker Heights (North Austin, South Dallas, whichever you want to see it) and nada..... so then I Google'd and it doesnt say they areint being made anymore anywhere, however, I got a link for National Candy Wholesale and you can buy them by the case. I almost bought you some($14 plus $7 shipping haha), but I like the thrill of the hunt better.

& drops you (Ted got bruises on his biceps for holding on so tight,

an early B-Day Present .... ..It amazes me with the technology we have
