Reading any of these over the holidays?
The list of the Best Selling Books of 2011 came out! I'm seeing 1 on the multi-lists that I've read.

7 "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" Stieg Larsson (Vintage Books)- The movie followed the book pretty well! You liked the book? You would probably like the movie too.

I won't be adding another before the end of 2011.  My time off, I've been reading  the J.R Ward 'The Black Dagger Brotherhood' series. I'm on Lover Enshrined.  I'm digging the series, but didn't make the top sellers list of 2011.  Maybe you can down 1 or 2 before 2012 ,if you have some free time!  Click here  to check out the list!

Happy 2012 coming!!!

Hawaiian Holiday VK.. Anyone?

Word is President Obama & family have a 17  Holiday VK planned in Hawaii that will cost taxpayers about $4 million dollars. A big chunk of that goes to air travel, security, lodging for security & staff.... lots of other things they can't list because of security purposes.  Click here to check out the  run down of what things cost. Example, the separate flight that The First Lady Michelle will be taking costs about $63,000.  They have a home in Hawaii that they pay for, but instead they are renting a place that is close to the beach.

Is this to much? Or expected because it's the President & family, so naturally it will cost more, to make sure they are safe.

Wish you were here....

Worst Dressed in 2011
Click here to checkout the celebs that made a Worst Dressed list.  You'll run into Lady GaGa ,/Snookie,  Christina Aguilera..even Kelly Clarkson! My vote is Christina Aguilera.  She's a beautiful woman with some killer pipes, but the outfits she picks just don't do her curvy figure justice.  What do you think?

Heading on the roads for the Holidays.

On Wednesday, I have plans to hit the road to spend Christmas/holiday w/ my family in Omaha, NE!  I did run into some good news for travelers and Truckers.  Starting Wednesday, Semis will get a break if they take Toll Road 130 to pay the passenger vehicle price. This is to help clear up some traffic on 35, so maybe there won't be so much congestion in Central TX.  Click here for more on the story.  Try to remember to have patience and allow yourself plenty of time.  I will try to do the same too!

FOR SURE LOTS OF PATIENCE!!!
Last year, commuters experienced more than 4.6 million hours of delay due to congestion, according to TxDOT. Traffic congestion on I-35 typically increases approximately five percent during peak holiday travel times, including Christmas and New Year’s Day

Creative way to sell a home w/ 'EYE CANDY'

There's a marketing video for selling a $2.2 million dollar home, 92 Savoy Drive, in Australia burning up the net. The idea behind it is women control 80% of home buying is influenced by women. So in a market where it's hard to sell a home, it was stepped up in this case w/ the help of a Canadian Model Ryan Burke.....

Ryan is 'behind' the video for sure. 92 Savoy Drive-
'So private, you can walk around Naked'.. the catch phrase.
It's done in good taste, and still supplying plenty of Eye Candy!  Check it out when you have a couple of minutes. Nice pick me up on a cloudy, rainy day!!
(BTW- the house is for sale, minus Ryan, but he certainly has the power to make you remember an address.)

Would this be Good or Bad JuJu?.....
Onlinegamblingpal.com is  going to make some of MIchael Jackson's hair they bought for over $10,000 into a Roulett ball.  They say it will be the highest quality, and since Michael was a Huge Entertainer, it's fitting to get this ball on a table in Vegas!

During a future Vegas trip,  you could be working the table w/ M.J.
Good Luck? Or Bad JuJu?  MMMM....

Michael Jackson has been getting around lately.A recent auction of Elizabeth's Taylors jewelry
brought in a record $115 million.  The collection included a bracelet that Michael gave Elizabeth the estimated sales price $30-$50K, and brought in over $194,000 in auction! Wonder what it would have brought in if a M.J. Roulette ball was added to the mix?

It's a cross between 'Detriot Rock City' and'Rockstar' with a bunch of the best of the '80s Rocker images/items all over the place. My hair wants to be bigger after seeing this trailer. It would be a Fun movie to see at the Alamo. Think you'll go see this next June? Set to drop June 1, 2012.

I'm not familiar with this Holiday Tradition. Are you???
William E. Robinson, from Georgia, was arrested for shooting down some mistletoe with his shotgun in a mall!
His defense. ...
"Every year I go somewhere to get some mistletoe to decorate the house,"..."I get some for my friends that can't get mistletoe. The best way to get it is with a shotgun."  He wanted to hunt for mistletoe on a friend's property, but when his acquaintance wasn't home, he turned his attention to a tree that he claims is on the mall's "fence line." A passing motorist contacted authorities after spotting Robinson firing one shot and collecting his yuletide bounty near an Applebee's restaurant ... The driver trailed the suspect to a Citgo gas station, where police took him into custody.

Click here for the entire story. The picture of William goes with his defense for sure!

Would you pay $1 Millon for this?

DKNY has teamed up with famed jewelry designer Martin Katzt o adorn one of their Gold Delicious fragrance bottles. This special one-of-a-kind edition of the company's top-selling scent boosts 14 karat yellow and white gold, 183 yellow sapphires, 2,700 white diamonds and a 2.43-carat yellow canary diamonds.

The blinged out apple-shaped bottle has already traveled to London, Mexico and Malaysia for reveals. It finally made it's way home to New York City last night where supermodel Chanel Iman showed off the pricey perfume at the DKNY store. Flanked by several bodyguards, Chanel kept the bottle under lock and key in a bullet and fire proof briefcase before showing it to the curious crowd of customers.

If you had $1 Million would you drop it on this?

Adele's tour requests...
Smoking Gun got a hold of Adele's wants/needs when she's on tour. Wonder what will be added for 2012 when her throat is healed up.
She had everything on it from sandwiches with no tomatoes to only having European Lager Beer. No North American beer.
Something really cool, if anyone got free tickets to her show, they were required to make a donation to a charity called Sands that Adele supports. Sands helps women who lose their babiees and research on still births.  This year Adele had raised  over $13,000 for Sands thanks to Free tickets!   Click here for more!

Is Johnny Depp the Devil?
A hottie one for sure, but he's getting a lot of heat from some Christian groups for a song he lent his vocals too 'Jesus Stag Night Club' by the Babybirds.

The song is a storyabout some men hiring a Jesus look-a-like for a bachelor party. At the end of the night, the Jesus twinkie ends up passed out drunk. But ohp! Come to find out, this is the real Jesus. Dun dun duunnnn….

Leaders from the groups are saying:
'm sure he thinks he's being very funny, but he's simply a disgrace. One day, Johnny Depp and his cronies will face the judgment of our Lord and they will burn in hell for this filth. We are sickened by Mr. Depp's behavior. Why did he need to record this song? It's a slap in the face to Christians all over the world!

Is Johnny being evil?

This is SO WRONG...

H&M  uses computer generated bodies of their models online. They use a model's real head/face, but many times put it on a computer generated body.  Their reason: The point seems to be that real bodies would be totally distracting for shoppers looking at product shots. "We do this to show off the clothes," says Andersson.

Gone are the days of photoshop. At least it was the person' own body, but the new way to go is to computer generate the body. Check out some of the photos. Now that I look at them, their heads do look a bit weird. What do you think?

I WOULDN'T WANT TO RUN INTO THIS..EVER!!

In the past 24 hours, I've learned a few things, that I could have done without. I actually knew a little about this, but didn't have to see it last night on TV, but I did.  Mike Rowe's 'Dirty Jobs' they were testing things for parasites, bacteria that kind of stuff.  They found eyebrow mites on Mike's eyebrows.  It's common for everyone. They hang out there, and will not be seen, uniless you have a microscope handy.  EEWW!  It weird me out a bit when I was trying to go to sleep.  Weird dreams...
Now I just found out the World's largest bug so far was photographed in New Zealand.  The giant Weta, a cricket like bug, with a wing span of over 7 inches.  That's 1 inch bigger than a 1/2 a Subway sub, to give you an idea how BIG this bug is. EEEWW!!   The Weta is almost gone from European countries due to the rats eating them all.  So now I'm thinking if the bug is that big, the rats.. okay..I have to quit thiking now.. Click the photo to check it out. Yes, that is a regular size carrot that it is eating.. EEEWW!!

BL Pound Cake Bars...
I was inspired by a celebrity recipe of Neil Patrick Harris. I re-worked it a bit and put in some Bud Light for a holiday kick with a bit of chocolate and created another Big Time Yummy!!

Bud Light Pound Cake Bars

1 Box of pound cake mix (16oz)
1 stick of margarine/butter softened
4 eggs
8 oz of 1/3 less fat cream cheese softened
3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
1/2 cup of chopped pecans
1/2 package heath bits (4-5 oz)
1/2 package (5 oz) dark chocolate chips
Bottle of Bud Light
2 tsp vanilla
4 Tbs Brown sugar
2 tsp of Cinnamon

*Preheat oven to 350. Spray pam of crisco a 9X 13 baking dish.  In a large bowl,  mix cake mix, butter/margarine and 2 eggs. Mix until smooth. I used an electric mixer. I added 1 Tbs of Bud Light to this mixture. Spread this mixture evenly in the baking dish.  In medium bowl, combine the 3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 eggs, another TBs of Bud Light and cream cheese. I used the electric mixer and mixed it well. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on the pound cake mixture.   In a bowl mix the 1/2 cup of pecans with 1/4 a cup of Bud Light, 2 tsps of cinnamon and 4-5 TBS of brown sugar. Sprinkle on top of the bars.  Put in the oven to bake until it's golden brown, about 40-45 minutes depending how your oven bakes.

About 5 minutes before it's finished baking, put the 1/2 bag/5 oz of dark chocolate chips with 1/4 cup of Bud Light in a microwavable bowl. MIcrowave about every :30 seconds and then stir. Add more Bud Light if chocolate is to thick.  It should be thick enough to spread.

Let it cool and then enjoy!

NISSAN ROGUES BIG RECALL!!
Affecting over 7 million vehicles...
Nissan and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have announced a recall for certain 2011 Rogue models. Some vehicles may have been manufactured with an incorrectly installed circuit board within the vehicle's electronic power steering assist control unit. Nissan says that, as a result, the terminal may experience additional stress on the circuit board's solder, which could eventually result in a failure. Such a failure could cause the power steering assist to stop working altogether, which may increase the amount of effort it takes to steer the vehicle and result in a crash.

Look Who's playing during the Big Game..
February 5th- The Big Game... no one knows which teams will play! Probably not my Bears, since they keep losing now. It doesn't look like the Cowboys might make it either, we will have to see.  But check out who will be there..

Her new film 'W.E.,' which she wrote, directed and produced, opens for a limited one-week release in Los Angeles on December 9 and will open nationally on February 3 2012, two days before Super Bowl XLVI.

She's bringing in a creative team from Cirque du Soleil, choreographer Jamie King
King. He  has served as Madonna's creative director for the last 13 years, and they've worked together on four tours including 2008's 'Sticky & Sweet' and her 2006 record-breaking 'Confessions' world tour. King also wrote and directed the critically acclaimed Cirque du Soleil 'Michael Jackson IMMORTAL Tour' earlier this year, and he directed Rihanna's 'Loud' Tour and Britney Spears' 'Femme Fatale' Tour.

In July 2011, 'Variety'
named King "Variety's Billion Dollar Tour Director", acknowledging his vast combined tours' box office tally, which is nearing $2 billion in ticket sales.

The Bridgestone-sponsored halftime show is an NFL Network production. It will be executive produced by Ricky Kirshner and directed by Hamish Hamilton.

Plan a head for Snail Mail..

The U.S postal service is going to make some big changes, since they aren't getting any $$ help from Congress. They are making a lot of cuts to save over $6 Billion a year. You will have to plan a head if you are mailing something to make sure it gets to where you need it on time.  Since internet bill pay, emails and everything else the worldwide web has gotten more popular, it's causing the U.S Postal service to hurt.  Although this change is going to hurt it even more.

Here's just a bit of what to expect:
The cuts, now being finalized, would close roughly 250 of the nearly 500 mail processing centers across the country as early as next March. Because the consolidations typically would lengthen the distance mail travels from post office to processing center, the agency also would lower delivery standards for first-class mail that have been in place since 1971.

Currently, first-class mail is supposed to be delivered to homes and businesses within the continental U.S. in one day to three days. That will lengthen to two days to three days, meaning mailers no longer could expect next-day delivery in surrounding communities. Periodicals could take between two days and nine days.

About 42 percent of first-class mail is now delivered the following day. An additional 27 percent arrives in two days, about 31 percent in three days and less than 1 percent in four days to five days. Following the change next spring, about 51 percent of all first-class mail is expected to arrive in two days, with most of the remainder delivered in three days.

The consolidation of mail processing centers is in addition to the planned closing of about 3,700 local post offices. In all, roughly 100,000 postal employees could be cut as a result of the various closures, resulting in savings of up to $6.5 billion a year.

THE ATX Scrooge strikes again...
When I moved to ATX close to 6 years ago, the first Christmas in ATX, when I was driving on Congress Ave, I was mesmorized.  I had never lived in a city that had lights strung up going to it's Capitol. It was so cool, and definitely got me in the holiday spirit.  Well, now for the past 2 years, no lights strung on Congress.  Again this year, the lights are a no show. Quick reason, they didn't work right and the search is on for lights that don't require ATX Energy resources.  So it could be a while before they appear again. I heard it was a 20 year tradition, up until 2 years ago.  WIth the Trail of LIghts being nixed again this year... HHHMMM.. Seems like ATX has a scrooge that hasn't found the HOLIDAY SPIRIT yet.  Maybe at the Zilker Tree lighting. HANDS OFF SCROOGE!!

Zilker Tree Lighting Ceremony
December 4th, 2011, 6pm

Zilker Tree is lit each evening from 6pm - 12midnight until December 31st.

They will still have the Congress Tree lighting even though the street won't have the lights!  So I guess a bit of Holiday Spirit lives on. :)

Loved the Grammy nominations reveal concert last night.  Miss Adele getting 6 nods.. wonder if her voice will be healed and ready by February 12th, and she sings for the 1st time since her throat surgery. That would be a Grammy Magic Moment.  Bruno Mars is level with Miss Adele getting 6 nods.. Kanye West getting 7?  Okay..whatever..  Lady G got some Grammy nom love too..
Here's the list

My favorite performance,  BIG LOVE to Lady G's opener 'Marry the Night'  showing love to Zombies..  She's so Great Live!

Grammy's are on CBS February 12th!!

BL Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls

My Mama Betty used to make these around the Holidays.  My favorite part, when I got old enough to be a little helper, was mixing the peanut butter mixture with the cracker crumbs and the sugar.  Best way is to use your hands, and have fun!!  I tweaked the recipe a bit by switching out Ritz crackers with Honey Graham crackers, and added a bit of a kick with Bud Light in both the peanut butter mixture and the chocolate.  Just enough for a nice BL kick!  It's easy to make and yummy!

The BL Balls:
Bud Light Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls
2 cups of peanut butter (your fav)
1 TB margarine or butter
1 TB Bud Light
1 tsp vanilla
1 wrapped package of graham crackers crushed
1-2 cups of powdered sugar

Chocolate Coating
2 TB margarine or butter
12 oz chocolate chips
1/4 cup of Bud Light (1-2 TB in the first melt/mix and the rest to make the chocolate thinner for dipping)
1/2 cup of skim milk (use to make the chocolate thinner for dipping)
-I usually get a big bag (24 oz) chocolate chips to have in case you need more and have the Bud Light handy to thin the chocolate out a bit for dipping!

Making the balls:
- Put the peanut butter and the margarine/butter in a microwavable  bowl and heat about 1 minute until it's melted together. Stir about :30 seconds into the heating and add 1 TB Bud Light. Stir and heat another 30 seconds/ until melted together.  Add the crushed to mostly powder package of Graham crackers, vanilla and 1 cup of powdered sugar. Stir a bit and then use your clean hands to mix it together into a dough.  Add more powdered sugar to make it more doughy, also if it gets to sticky while making the balls.  Make about 1 inch balls. Set them on a cookie sheet with wax paper, and place the sheet in the refrigerator for about an hour to set.

Making the chocolate coating:
- In a medium sauce pan, melt the chocolate chips and the margarine/butter and 2 TB of Bud Light. Constantly stirring until it's melted.  Add a bit more BL if it's to thick..to thin..add more chocolate chips. Once the chocolate is a good consistency to dip the peanut butter balls in, Go for it!  Put the BL Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls in the frig to set. Once set, Enjoy! They can be stored in an airtight container and are usually good for 2 weeks, but they usually only last a couple days or so, becaue they are so yummy!! Sure sign of a Yummy Good Time!! HERE WE GO!!
