What game?
Lots of talk about the 'Big Game' on Sunday, although there are many who don't watch for the game, but for other things like commercials, 1/2 time, or just because nothing else is on worth watching at the time.  Whether you are having a 'Big Game Party' or just chilling at home checking things out a bit, I ran into these 25 questions that you could answer before the game, that might make you have a bit more interest in the game.   If you are having a party, you could have peeps answer them before the game starts and whoever has the most correct at the end of the game could win something cool.. bottle of win...case of Beer... maybe collect a couple of bucks from each guest to create a cash stash... the winner could win that.  Here are  25 more reasons to watch the 'Big Game'! Have fun!

The 'BIG GAME' 25:

  1. National Anthem – Over or Under 1:34 in length?
  2. How long will Alicia Keys hold ‘freeeeeeee’? Over or under three seconds?
  3. Will we see Alicia Keys’ belly button?
  4. Will we see Beyonce’s belly button?
  5. Will we see Jim Nantz’s belly button?
  6. Number of people who will ask “Who’s Jim Nantz?”
  7. Coin Flip – Heads or Tails?
  8. Number of People at Party Who Say They’re More Excited about Commercials?
  9. Over or Under 10: Number of times they show the Harbaugh parents?
  10. First Team to Score – 49ers or Ravens?
  11. First Score is – Touchdown or Field Goal or Other?
  12. First In-Game Commercial Is For?
  13. First LOCAL business commercial is for which business that ponied up an obscene amount of jack so their buddies could see how cool they are to be on TV during the Super Bowl?
  14. How Many Commercials Will Feature a Baby/Babies?
  15. How Many Commercials Will Feature a Monkey/Monkeys? (Donald Trump does not count against the spread)
  16. Will Ray Lewis cry during the National Anthem? (Thx, Scotty!)
  17. Over/Under 3: Number of times CBS replays Ray Lewis’ coming-out-of-the-tunnel dance?
  18. Over/Under 3: Number of times CBS shows a cast of one of their shows awkwardly sitting together?
  19. Half-Time: Surprise guest star Beyonce sings with?
  20. What color gatorade does the winning team dump on their coach? (actual prop bet in Vegas)
  21. How many times does CBS cut to revelers in Bourbon Street?
  22. Over/Under 5: Number of times CBS shows Alex Smith looking forlorn on sidelines.
  23. Number of people who will ask “Who’s Alex Smith?”
  24. First celebrity couple awkwardly shown snuggling on TV?
  25. Who will the Super Bowl MVP thank first? Teammates? God? Owner? Family? Coach? Other? (actual prop bet in Vegas)

Bonus Question: Who actually wins the, you know, game?

Heads up Foodies...

I got an email from my honey Ted about a new restaurant opening in ATX 'Hi Hat Public House'.  It's owned by ATX drummer Steve Schrader.   Beer lovers welcome!

Here's a write up from Austin 360:

Open: Hi Hat Public House, a restaurant at 2121 E. Sixth St., the former home of Braise. Chef Jesse Curtis’s menu includes everything from pork meatballs and beer-brined chicken wings to posole, herbed pappardelle and cassoulet, and the bar has two dozen craft beers on tap. The restaurant is open for dinner and Sunday brunch. 478-8700, hihatpublichouse.com    Something new to try for dinner!

Should more places do this?
McDonald's will have QR codes on their packaging/bags that you can scan with your smartphone to get nutrional 411 on what you are eating. "The QR code is in addition to the nutritional information McDonald's currently prints on brochures, tray liners and more as well as on the information that can be found on the company's apps."

Good Idea?  I like the idea, but not sure I want to know the nutritional value of a Big Mac, fries and a chocolate shake. I realize they have salads, grilled chicken/sandwiches and apple slices, but do most go to McDonalds for that type of meal?   cheeky

In honor of today...
Today is National Peanut Butter Day!  Besides having great health benefits, it's yummy too!  I'm a big fan of Bell Plantation Peanut Butter  Powder.  It's the yummy peanut butter part without all the oil.  2  TBs of powder w/ 1 TB water, it's ready. Best part you can make it as thick or thin as you would like mixing up a serving.  Low in fat (1 to 1 1/2 grams)  and yummy good for you.  It's actually popping up in more places in ATX!  I get mine at Central Market/S. Lamar. They get both flavors in, regular and chocolate.  Both AWESOME yummy!  Something to grab to try next time you go to the store. Click here for more 411 and locations near you that may have it.  If you see it, grab it, it goes out of stock quick. I noticed on the Bell Plantation site the regular is on back order until  January 31st.

New Prince earcandy???

Prince quietly released 'Screwdriver' with 3rdEyeGirl who are rumoured to be Prince's new backing band (guitarist Donna Grantis, drummer Hannah Ford and bassist Ida Nielsen).  It sounds like Prince, but not really his style, or the one I'm used too.  It's definitely not 'Purple Rain' caliber. What do you think?  Does Prince still 'Got it!' or has he 'Lost it!' and needs to stop until he finds 'IT!'.

Hitting 48 hard..
The flu is a huge deal in 48 states now. Here's a CNN write up I ran across that answers most flu questions that many have. The flu shot is about 60% effective from getting the flu, if you do get it even with a shot, the complications are suppose to be less severe.  About the only way to try not getting the flu is avoid going out in public, which isn't realistic.  Click here for the questions and answers.

Samuel finding his inner Taylor..

Jackson appeared on Capital FM in London and read the lyrics to the Taylor Swift song, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” A listener had called into the radio show and said she wanted to send a clear message to her boyfriend.

I'm digging it..

You  might have heard about the musician from Japan that sounds like Taylor.  The song 'I'm Alright' many thought it was Taylor's new break up song, but it was actually created/performed by Jersey Green. Amazing how she's so Taylor-ish when it comes to writing and singing.

Inauguration Fun Factoids

-“Inauguration,” pronounced in-aw-gyu-RAY-shun.  It comes from Latin and means “to be installed under good omens or signs.”

-There’s been a parade for every inauguration since Thomas Jefferson’s inauguration on March 4, 1805, except in 1985, when it was so cold and windy that the parade was canceled. It was 7 degrees at noon in Washington, which made it the coldest Inauguration Day ever. The forecast for Monday is for the temperature to reach 39 degrees.

-George Washington gave his first inaugural address on April 30, 1789. Presidents were then sworn in on March 4 until 1937, when the date was changed to January 20. When January 20 falls on a Sunday, as it does this year, the president is sworn in privately on Sunday but the public ceremonies take place on January 21.

-Inauguration Luncheon features  incorporates foods that the first Americans enjoyed, but with a modern, forward looking approach.

Inaugural App to get live feed during the ceremony Monday!
The 2013 Inauguration app’s main feature is the live stream of Obama’s swearing-in and second inaugural address, but it will also feature maps, schedules, a social media stream and other videos that users can access from their phones. The Inauguration app will feature maps of all the Inauguration activities in Washington, D.C., for those in the capital. The Verge notes the app will give users maps of designated entrances and viewing areas in and around the National Mall, bathroom locations and even where to get something to eat.

People with iPhones can download the Inaugural 2013 app

The year of the plunge!!!

Golden globes kicked off the 'Year of the Plunge' in front, back and sometimes both.
One of my favs was Kate Hudson..   Click here for more  Check out Katherine McPhee's dress on the MIX Facebook page. What do you think of her 'plunges'?

I found it funny that when Lucy Liu came out on the GG stage w/ this one his first reaction was.. 'She looks like she's wearing a bad couch.' He couldn't get past the fact that her dress material looked just like  a bad couch print.  He went on about it for a few minutes. It was entertaining on my end. I was shocked to see Halle B. on a worst dressed list, but I have to agree, not one of her better dressed, but she still looks amazing. She could ROCK a burlap sack!  Click here...

Of course we can't forget Adele!  Now a Golden Globe winner. Loved her acceptance speech except she didn't spell a name for her 'Baby Boy' last night. Unless she has decided to name him 'Baby Boy'.  BTW: Check out Taylor's reaction around :22, she did good holding off on an 'eye roll' and went w/ the 'Smile Smirk'... trying to look happy for Adele, but totally wasn't.

Click here for the  quick version of the GG winners!

Jodie Foster is 50 if you can believe it. She gave a speech for an award she received at the  GGs last night. First time, that I've heard of, that she's opened up in public (came out), and I was confused yet inspired at the same time... WEIRD? Check it out!

The Perfect ATX Man....

www.whatsyourprice.com, a dating-auction site, polled 1,984 ATX women asking them what makes their perfect man from income, to education to body types.

*Austin’s perfect man earns $100,000 to $150,000 per year, has a graduate degree, has blond hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build and is a social drinker that doesn’t smoke. What’s your idea of the perfect man? (KEYE FB)

Here's my 'PERFECT MAN'.  Ted doesn't fit this description at all, and I'm glad. If ATX women knew how LOVING, KIND AND FUNNY he is, I would have too much competition.  We've been together 20 years (married 11) , and he's still my Best friend. :)  BIG LOVE FOR TED! :)

Love this show....

I'm not sure if this is distrubing that I LOVE the show 'American Horror Story: Asylum'  on FX I watched the 'Name Game' last night. Supposedly a clue about the theme of Season 3 would be in the show. HHHMMM.. some say Season of the Witch.. others saying  a 'Glee' inspired Third Season since Jessica Lang's character Sister Jude broke on in the 'Name Game' song.   But it was a delusional fantasy after getting BIG TIME shock treatment. I'm hoping not the Glee route... just wouldn't fit this show style 24/7.   Again... is it weird I  enjoy this show?   (Season 1 is about a Murder House.. almost caught up on that via NetFlix)..
