I've been catching up w/ Game of Thrones and I'm a Fan even though Ned is still gone! This has become a popular video that was shown at Comic con over the weekend. The show is so dramatic that sometimes it's forgotten the actors are human too. I love to see bloopers, which is especially entertaining w/ GoTs. Enjoy!
Hey, if you are looking for an AWESOME weekend getaway that is perfect for just about everyone. You've got a family, you want to go somewhere w/ friends or even a getaway w/ your honey, Corpus Christi has Good Times for all! Ted, Huey and I have had lots of 'Good Times' when we've hit the road to Corpus Christi. It's easy to hop in the car on a late Friday afternoon/evening and head to the beach. The area is very family friendly and pet friendly. We stay at the Omni Bayfront Hotel, and since they allow smaller dogs, our Shih Tzu Huey comes too. There is a dog free, but way cheaper and easier than having to worry about having someone watch him/board him in ATX!
There are so many things to do. If you hit up this website- www.visitcorpuschristitx.org you will find all the Good Times that are waiting for you. Of course the more you explore, and chat w/ the locals, you will find even more Good Times. I highly suggest the Texas Aquarium. They have awesome, safe and friendly for animal shows, plus new exhibits each time we've been there. The USS Lexington Battleship is a must see to explore. Hurricane Alley Waterpark is one of the newest Good Time editions. Perfect waterpark to enjoy a day w/ your family/ friends while you're in CC!
I suggest going to the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi that is right along the shore. Besides some really cool, unusual pieces of art, they have a Fantabulous cafe in the museum that I highly suggest grabbing breakfast or lunch. You can even sit outside and take in the 'AMAZING' scenary of the shore. Many locals go to this cafe, so you know it Rocks! I've found most of the best places to eat, when you are out of town, is where the locals are.
The Omni Baywalk Hotel has an AWESOME breakfast buffet! You'll also find the Republic of Texas Steakhouse that is on top of the Omni Baywalk that is pricey, but yummy. Save room for dessert.. Chocolate Torte... YUM!
Here are some of the many 'Good Times' my family has had in Corpus Christi the past few years, and we look forward to more!!!
Have a Happy Summer filled w/ Good Times! Heather R.
Big talk this morning was the steamy trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson (Don Johnson's & Melanie Griffith's daughter) who play leads Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Coming out Valentine's Day Weekend Friday, February 13th. Click here for the trailer.
The trailer is extra steamy thanks to the new sexy version of Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love'. I haven't had a cigarette since '99, but after watching the trailer, I was almost tempted. From the trailer, it reminds me of a ...dare I say 'Throw Back' movie that came out in 1986 starring Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger.... I couldn't look at a refrigerate the same after watching this movie... Here's one for #TBT.. If you have never seen this, check it on your Netflix list. Mickey R was a Hottie in this one...
When you hear Weird Al Yankovic, seems like a #TBT name. W-Al was huge in the'80s w/ his numerous parodies of popular songs. Well, it took him 30 years, but he made it to #1 on the Billboard 200 Album charts w/ his new album 'Mandatory'. W-Al sticks w/ the parodies and does what he does best... POKE FUN at the hits. Here's a taste of what to expect if you add Mandatory in your Ear Candy collection. I'm thinking some teachers/ fun teatchers might think about playing it during class.
Blurred Lines getting poked at by W-Al w/ his song 'Word Crimes'... Something new from a #TBT artist who still has his give on..
The $1000 Cash Code Contest is happening w/ 4 chances to win each weekday... 7am-11am-2pm & 5pm. Get 72881 in your phone so you're ready when the new 'Code Word' is revealed at these times. All the details are here. What would you do with $1,000?
I'm getting in deep w/ catch up on Game Of Thrones. I'm into season 3, and last night I watch Kalisi showing some major Girlpower getting a huge army and working her dragon. I thought this was pretty cool. Queen's guard does the GOT theme song.
How about in honor of Kalisi today...
Lava Balls.... one of my all time favorite candies that I first discovered in a few stores in Austin when I moved here over 8 years ago. The past 3-4 years, I haven't been able to find them here in ATX. Every once in a while I'll order them online, for something special, but I haven't done that in a while.
My honey Ted surprised ordered them and I found them in the cabinet It's been a very busy week, so I've had some late evenings getting home from work. This is like surprise flowers your sweetie might give you. Since my allergies flare up w/ flowers, he got me one of my favorite sweet treats. I'm so blessed to have Ted in my life. He's definitely a Keeper!
Love him to pieces! He Rocks!! Huey does too! :)
I ran into this a bit ago, so there are some still around.
But it's a throw back for me as far as using one. How about you? How did we live without our smart phone, because I don't think that's possible now. Ever get that lost feeling when you some how forgot your phone or it needs a good charging, so you are without it.
This song popped in my head:
The American Solar Challenge kicksoff! It’s a competition where you design, build and race solar-powered cars across the country. 1700-mile road trip traveling through 7 states in 8 days from Austin, TX to Minneapolis, MN. It kicks off w/ the Formula Sun Grand Prix in ATX at the Circuit of The Americas this weekend/Saturday! Powered by Austin Energy Click here for more 411. Great Family Fun time. It's free to get in too! Click here for more.
There are way to many stories popping up about children being left in HOT vehicles. even for a little while
The APD emailed a list of HOT CAR TIPS that should be passed along. Please spread the word! If you see a child in a HOT vehicle do something about it! Same goes for a pet! Nothing living should be stuck in a HOT vehicle.
This will be a Fun Flashback show to check out. MÖTLEY CRÜE's Final Tour w/ Alice Cooper at the Cedar Park Center tonight! Show starts at 7pm!
One of my favorite concerts was MÖTLEY CRÜE's Dr. Feelgood Tour! That Rocked! I went w/ a friend who was 7 months pregnant, and her baby boy loved Tommy Lee's drum solo. He kicked the entire time. I thought she was going to go into labor right there.
Here's some awesome flashback ear candy:
Alice Cooper always puts on a great show. Another great concert was Alice Cooper/Kansas City. My highschool boyfriend and I were in Kansas City for a weekend and found out Alice was in town. We went to the show and it was awesome. Before the show there were these group of girls, that looked more like the Groupie type, and they snobbed everyone they walked past. When the show started, I saw them in the front row. Alice saw them too. They forgot Alice is the King of Rock'n props. When the Guillotine scene came these ladies got fake blood all over them. They didn't look very Happy about it, but Alice did. He did it again, and then laughed while Rock'n! :)
I know this ear candy is a bit cheesy, but I LOVE IT!
Over the weekend, I popped this in my cart. If you are a fan of the Greek yogurt movement, but also love ice cream. This is the best of both worlds. It's more of a healthier option to get your ice cream mojo going. Low fat isn't low on flavor. Black Cherry Rocks! I'll have to try the other flavors. It's not Amy's Ice Cream or Blue Bell, but if you're looking for something that curbs the ice cream craving in a much lighter way, I suggest this! Yum! $1 coupon is here!
We've been pushing the upper '90s and this weekend could bring triple digits. How about some cool fun inside that's FREE! Free Fun In Austin teamed up with MOMquery to come up with a list of Free Indoor Family Fun in Austin. Click here!
I've had the pleasure of talking w/ Colbie a few times when she's done some performances in the MIX Music Lounge. She is so laid back, easy going and just a cool chick. This video to her new single 'TRY' really shows that side of her. It's pretty Empowering. Check it out! What do you think?
It is for the month of July in ATX. Here's some 411 to share w/ your family & friends! Where is your favorite 'OUT' place in ATX?

I got back over the weekend from Omaha, NE. My honey Ted & I drive there. Yes, we are in the same vehicle together for at least 13 hours straight (if no major traffic issues, then it's longer) one way. I run across many that say they couldn't be in a vehicle w/their sweetie/family for that long. We have done this many times, and so far so good when it comes to getting along. Of course, I won't say you don't get tired of being in the car, a bit grouchy w/ each other, but overall, it's a great experience.
Here are a few things you can do while in the car w/ your sweetie.
1.) Facebook/Twitter- Social Media is awesome when it comes to passing the time in a long car ride
2.) Digital books/books.. reading passes the time.
3.) Taking a nap, but not too long. I've felt that having the passenger role during a trip, I need to try to stay awake, so the driver stays awake.
4.) Take several pitstops to get gas, walk around and stretch.
5.) Listen to tunes!
6.) Snacks are a must
The most important part of this is you 'LIKE' each other besides just 'Loving' each other. This does help. We don't have kids, so if that was added in the mix, then flying or other ways to get places quicker, might be an option.
If you haven't tried a road trip w/ your sweetie, and thinking about taking that new adventure on... Start w/ a couple of hours in the car together, and grow from there. Happy travels this summer!
