How he got his catch phrase...

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Here's a SNL flashback with Matthew McConaughey that's a treat for me. If you haven't seen it, could be for you too. Here's how Actor Matthew McConaughey came up with the famous catchphrase "Alright, alright, alright" after he met the Dazed and Confused casting director at the Hyatt Hotel bar.

Nice, now if I could only run into him sometime around ATX. I've meet many people who have, but I haven't in the almost 10 years I've lived here. I'm still holding out hope.... 'Alright, Alright, Alright'.... Matthew Rocks! Have a Happy & Safe Thanksgiving!

She's still got IT!!!

It's been 20 years since Alanis Morissette's 'Jagged Little Pill' was released. Alanis and her music remains a big influence on younger female artists today. Last night Alanis brought it w/ Demi Lovato doing a duet of ''You Oughta Know' at the AMAs. Demi kept up, w/ the AWESOME ALANIS. Recently 'Jagged Little Pill' was re-released on iTunes to celebrate it's 20th Anniversary. Even 20 years later the tunes are still significant and they matter. Alanis performs them that way too! Check her out!

You should read this...

The first time I read this. I was crying for a stranger, Isobel in Paris, I didn't know, Isobel wrote this post on Facebook that went viral.Rather than being so graphic w/ physical wounds, Isobel was graphic w/ all the different experiences and feelings she was having being trapped in the concert hall that had more than 80 deaths caused by the terrorists during the Paris Attacks on Friday. Ways to help...

Please read what 22-year-old Isobel wrote on her Facebook page, when she came out of it to her surprise ALIVE:

you never think it will happen to you. It was just a friday night at a rock show. the atmosphere was so happy and everyone was dancing and smiling. and then when the men came through the front entrance and began the shooting, we naiively believed it was all part of the show. It wasn't just a terrorist attack, it was a massacre. Dozens of people were shot right infront of me. Pools of blood filled the floor. Cries of grown men who held their girlfriends dead bodies pierced the small music venue. Futures demolished, families heartbroken. in an instant. Shocked and alone, I pretended to be dead for over an hour, lying among people who could see their loved ones motionless.. Holding my breath, trying to not move, not cry - not giving those men the fear they longed to see. I was incredibly lucky to survive. But so many didn't. The people who had been there for the exact same reasons as I - to have a fun friday night were innocent. This world is cruel. And acts like this are suppose to highlight the depravity of humans and the images of those men circuling us like vultures will haunt me for the rest of my life. The way they meticoulsy aimed at shot people around the standing area i was in the centre of without any consideration for human life. It didn't feel real. i expected any moment for someone to say it was just a nightmare. But being a survivor of this horror lets me able to shed light on the heroes. To the man who reassured me and put his life on line to try and cover my brain whilst i whimpered, to the couple whose last words of love kept me believing the good in the world, to the police who succeded in rescuing hundreds of people, to the complete strangers who picked me up from the road and consoled me during
the 45 minutes I truly believed the boy i loved was dead, to the injured man who i had mistaken for him and then on my recognition that he was not Amaury, held me and told me everything was going to be fine despite being all alone and scared himself, to the woman who opened her doors to the survivors, to the friend who offered me shelter and went out to buy new clothes so i wouldnt have to wear this blood stained top, to all of you who have sent caring messages of support - you make me believe this world has the potential to be better. to never let this happen again. but most of this is to the 80 people who were murdered inside that venue, who weren't as lucky, who didnt get to wake up today and to all the pain that their friends and families are going through. I am so sorry. There's nothing that will fix the pain. I feel priviledged to be there for their last breaths. And truly beliving that I would join them, I promise that their last thoughts were not on the animals who caused all this. It was thinking of the people they loved. As i lay down in the blood of strangers and waiting for my bullet to end my mere 22 years, I envisioned every face that I have ever loved and whispered I love you. over and over again. reflecting on the highlights of my life. Wishing that those i love knew just how much, wishing that they knew that no matter what happened to me, to keep belieivng in the good in people. to not let those men win. Last night, the lives of many were forever changed and it is up to us to be better people. to live lives that the innocent victims of this tragedy dreamt about but sadly will now never be able to fulfil. RIP angels. You will never be forgotten. Isobel Bowdery Words From Isobel!

Happy Veterans Day!!!

THANK YOU to all our Veterans and those who are active giving your time and service to our country. Today and everyday they should be Honored for all that they do. It's extra special today with many events and services available to them. From the Veterans Day Parade this morning and many other events in their Honor to lots of discounts and freebies at different places around the area. They are very much deserved and much more. Click here!

There is also an initiative trending #GreenLightaVet where you replace a visible light to the public from your home/business w/ a Green bulb. The color Green represents Hope and Well being, and it shows your appreciation and support of our Veterans and active duty men and women who protect and serve our country. Keep the Green shining bright past Veterans Day to show our support.

Mine will be shining in HONOR of the men and women who are Veterans with us, active duty and also Veterans who are no longer with us. This would include my Daddy Maurice. He was drafted in the Army right after he graduated college. He and my Mama Betty moved their wedding up before he went away to basic training in Georgia. He left his small town of Weems, VA as a newly wed and college graduate to learn valuable lessons in the Army. My Daddy Maurice became an officer during his time w/the Army and left as a First Lieutenant. He was always proud of this, and his 31 years as a Human Resource Manager at a canning company in Omaha, NE made it possible for him to make many friends who were Veterans too. He helped whenever he could. The Green Light on my porch also GLOWS GREEN in My Daddy Maurice's Honor. He passed away November 14, 2013 at the age of 73. I miss him terribly (and my Mama Betty too), but I still have the stories he would tell of his time in the Army while he and my Mama Betty were newly weds... those will always stay with me. #GREENLIGHTAVET

Here's a quote I saw that fits perfect for Wednesday, November 11 Veterans Day and everyday before and after it....
"On Veterans Day, put out your flags, cheer the marchers at parades, and go to tributes. But when you wake up the next day, Nov. 12, remember that it's still Veterans Day for our veterans — and it will be every day of their lives. So thank them. Talk to them." — Gen. Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.)"

There are a lot of events / freebies in honor of and for our Veterans and Active Military.
Close Assault at Camp Mabry
November 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Texas Military Force Museum at Camp Mabry, 2200 W 35th St., Austin

Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Austin
November 11 at 9:30 a.m. | Parade will proceed up Congress Ave. to the Texas State Capitol

The San Marcos Veterans Parade is mentioned, but that has been cancelled due to the recovery going on from the recent flooding. The biscuit and sausage breakfast and the children's activites are still happening to honor the Veterans in San Marcos.

Thanks to Free Fun in Austin there are many more events listed!. Click here!

Friday, November 27th is...

Yes, the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, is 'Buy NOthing Day' to many around the world.

The first Buy NOthing Day was organized in Canada in September 1992 "as a day for society to examine the issue of over-consumption." In 1997, it was moved to the Friday after American Thanksgiving, also called "Black Friday", which is one of the ten busiest shopping days in the United States. … Campaigns started appearing in the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, the Netherlands, France, Norway and Sweden. Participation now includes more than 65 nations. (WikiP)
