Police detectives in Providence, Rhode Island didn’t have a lot to go on when a Domino’s deliveryman reported that someone sucker-punched him and stole his money when he pulled up to deliver a pizza.
All they had was the number the thief used to order the pizza. The detectives tried calling it – no answer.
So they got a little inventive. They pulled the picture of a beautiful woman off the Internet, and included it with a text they sent to the suspect. They named her “Samantha,” and in the text, they said that she and the robber had met before and she found him attractive.
The suspect texted her back and included a picture of himself, which resembled the guy who’d punched and robbed the deliveryman.
So Samantha and the suspect arranged to meet downtown – but when the suspect showed up, all he found waiting for him were a few police officers and a complimentary overnight stay at the PPD lock-up.
There’s a free trial in his future too, just not for any dating service.
