Bridesmaids!!!!

Bridesmaids
Starring Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. Kristen also co-wrote the film with her friend Annie Mumolo. She is super woman!

A funny movie with funny ladies that covers the delicate dynamics of girlfriends.

My take:
Awesome. I hate how they are marketing this movie as the ‘Hangover,’ but with ladies. They are getting ready for a wedding, and there is raunchy humor, but Bridesmaids is so much more! I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a solid plot and some very real/true moments about women friendships.  I will say it again…women friendships are complicated!

Look out for:
Melissa McCarty. You might remember her as Lauren Graham’s friend Sookie from Gilmore Girls. Every friend I have talked to has said, “She stole the movie!” I love her.

You will like it if:
1.    You are a man or a woman – guys this is not a sappy girl power “chick flick.” It is just a good movie
2.    You love Kristen Wiig on SNL
3.    You are a woman who has at any point in her life felt a little left behind in “life.”
4.    You like funny movies

Would I go with my mom:
Warning: The first 5 minutes are raunchy. I called my mother and warned her…there is language…and sex, but I told her to please look past and enjoy the movie. My mother loved it, but as expected she did not like the dirty language or the “raunchiness.” She did say there were a lot of “real” moments.

Will I buy it?
I will see again in theaters…and buy it the DAY it is out!

Water For Elephants

Water for Elephants

Starring Reese Witherspoon and the vampire from Twilight Robert Pattinson

Based on the best selling book Water for Elephants. (I was ¾ done with the book when I saw the movie)

My take:

Fun to see a love story set in a Circus in the early 1900s.  However with an Oscar star like Reese Witherspoon, I was expecting more of a sweeping epic film. The movie was pretty fluffy.

Look out for:

  1. Rob Pattinson! It was nice to see Rob not as teen heart throb Edward in Twilight, but as an actor in a a legit movie. I didn’t really know if Rob could act….and turns out he can! Yay!

  2. Heads up....there is some animal cruelty acted out in the movie.

You will like it if:

  1. You like Twilight

  2. You read the book and are curious how they adapt it to the film. Remember everyone knows…yes the book is always better

  3. You like period pieces

  4. You like elephants

Would I go with my mom:

I told my mom to just rent the movie. She became offended and told me she wants to see it no matter what I think….so stop raining on her parade.

Will I buy it?

Nope

Something Borrowed

Something Borrowed:

Starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin.

Based on the popular beach read Something Borrowed. (I am reading the book post seeing the movie)

My take:

Cute enough “chick flick” movie with Kate Hudson playing the same role Kate Hudson plays every movie…the effortlessly cool everything comes easy to her girl that everyone loves.

Look out for:

Ashley Williams. Remember the movie Father of the Bride. Remember the bride…actress Kelly Williams. Ashley is her younger sister and Ashley is awesomely CRAZY in this movie.

You will like it if:

  1. You want to watch a light hearted chick flick.

  2. You love John Krasinski. Remember him in It’s Complicated and how darn cute he was in that movie? He is that times 100 in this movie. I just want to be his best friend.

  3. You want to see an actor (Colin Egglesfield) that looks EXACTLY like Tom Cruise in the volleyball scene of Top Gun.

Would I go with my mom: Yes! My mother would think it was a “cute/lighthearted movie.”  After the movie my mother would have said, “That John Krasinski is hilarious and cute!”

Will I buy it?

It if is in the $5 rack.
