I went a little crazy at the last Kendra Scott Sample sale. Her jewelry is usually pretty expensive and sold at high end stores like Nordstrom. At her sample sale...you can get her jewelry for up to 80% off. She even has $10 buckets! Feathers are really in now...so be on the lookout for feather necklaces.
All the boutiques in Austin get together twice a year and try to blow out all the clothes they have left from the previous season. It is a great opportunity to buy some designer jeans or beautiful sundresses at a cheaper prices! The sale starts Saturday at 11am and is $10 to get in!
When was the last time you saw a woman with a normal body just chillin in a women's fashion magazine? Glamour Magazine's September issue (on stands now) has an article about feeling comfortable in your skin.Â
Sure model is still a pretty thin woman, but I love that she isn't posing in a special way to suck in her belly.
I went to Cipollina on West Lynn Saturday night and it is a great place for a romantic cheap date night....or girls night out!
Cipollina is a Bistro on West Lynn near Downtown Austin. The prices are cheap and the food is good. You can get a pizza big enough for 2 for about $12, and a great glass of wine for just $5.
The atmosphere is cozy and cute...perfect for a first date...and it is local! After dinner walk over to Cafe Medici for a great espresso.

The latest designer bag collection at Target is from Hollywood Intuition. The bags resemble some Chloe, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors bags that I have seen around.
There are a lot of fun colors this season, but I find it hard to spend $300 on a purple bag that might only be in for 1 season. The Hollywood Intuition line is a great way to add green, purple, or bright orange into your collection for under $30!
My favorite bag is the cluth...that can also be worn as a fanny pack. Target makes EXCELLENT clutches for around $19.99. I swear someone will look at your bag and think you spent much more.
Another bag I like is the tote. Get it in purple! You can carry it to work and fit your laptop in it as well! The tote is HUGE and only $29.99.
Finally, Intuition is known for their Hollywood tape. They have cheaper box for Target for just $9.99. This is a great thing to have in the closet for a last minute hem, or to keep a bra strap up!
South Austin restaurant Olivia has been named one of the best new restaurants of the year by Bon Appetit.
The annual list, which is published in this month's Restaurant Issue and already available online, chose places that “represent the new standard: simple, satisfying local food—all served with zero pretense." Olivia, the brainchild of husband-and-wife team James and Cristina Holmes, was cited for its "riffs on comfort-food classics":
There's only one thing on the walls of Olivia: a Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings concert poster that chef James Holmes's grandfather gave to him. The image—two groundbreaking country music legends from Texas—captures the spirit of this sophisticated yet laid-back spot. The restaurant's clean art-gallery-esque interior really shows off the poster—and Chef Holmes's food. He gathers his culinary inspiration from (and in) his backyard vegetable garden. The resulting menu includes produce-based dishes like risotto made with squash and greens, and spinach-potato gnocchi with olives and tomatoes. Holmes is also fond of riffs on comfort-food classics, like spaghetti cooked in red wine and the milk-braised pork shoulder here. The diverse clientele—a tattooed musician on his way to a show or an operagoer dressed to the nines—only adds to Olivia's considerable charm.
Other restaurants on the list include Houston's Feast, Bar Jules in San Francisco, and No. 7 in Brooklyn. As part of the recognition, the chefs of Olivia shared with Bon Appetit their recipe for Milk-Braised Pork Shoulder with Semolina Gnocchi, which you can check out for yourself.

I live in a house with a few other people and on Tuesday nights we alternate cooking for eachother. I love cookbooks and I LOVE the food network so this is the perfect time to try out new recipes...everyone knows its no fun just trying recipes on your lonesome. Each week we try to out do eachother and we ALWAYS make dessert.
Last week I made Chicken Burgers with Garlic-Rosemary Mayo. It was pretty good and I am still using the mayo for sandwiches and chicken salads. Click here to check out the recipe.
I talked about JR Salon today on the show...this is the salon with the $40 haircuts and no tip. For $40 you get a wash and head massage with relaxing oils, a great cut, and a hand massage! LOVE it. JR Salon is part of Jackson Ruiz and it is not a training salon, but a lot of times the stylists will move up to Jackson Ruiz. Check out JR Salon here!
