Something Crafty: Do it yourself bracelets

One of the big trends on the fashion blogs right now is 'Do it Yourself' projects.

My friend at www.HipLip.com found the cutest replica of designer $200 bracelets on a DIY (do it yourself) blog called www.honestlywtf.com

I used to make a pretty good friendship bracelet back in the day, so I was up for the challenge.

The blog details out EVERYTHING you need step by step.

Here is where I found all the materials in Austin.

Leather: Found the leather ( a bit thicker than the directions called for) at both Hobby Lobby and Michaels. It costs between $2-$3.

Crystal Chain: I found the biggest selection at Michaels - $3 chain gives you enough to go around the wrist about 3 times.

Hex nut: I found silver hex nuts at Home Depot. You can get a whole back for around $2.

Waxed Linen Cord: I found one color (pink) at Michaels and none at Hobby Lobby...so I improvised. I have found that crochet thread and embroidery thread is available in more colors and much cheaper.  The waxed linen is around $4...but the embroidery thread is about 34 cents.
