I'm a very sad Bears fan today to discover the news about Brian Urlacher's mom passing away unexpectedly. He's left the team for now to be with his family. I understand how it is to lose your mom in an unexpected way. You will never get over it, but able to deal with it better each day.
“My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest,” Urlacher said in a statement released by the Bears. “This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you.”
Urlacher has been excused from the team to be with his family.
