Two girls who love some Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern on The Travel Channel have decided to check out as many ethnic restaurants/stores around Austin as they can!
Sara: I can't believe I had never heard of this place before. The food was so good...it was SOOO good. I literally could not stop eating....and I am still craving a second helping. Lawrence was able to help us order...as there was a lot of the menu I had never heard of. There are so many great veggie/vegan options! My fav was the black eyed peas w/ fried plantains. You might be thinking...what is special about black eyed peas? Well...it is the african spices...they are different from anything I have ever tasted. The prices are low, and the portions are big. Wasota is a GREAT example of a GREAT food trailer. . I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. Go support Lawrence!
Cass: It's not every day you eat a meal that you can't stop thinking about for days and days following it.....but that's what happened when Sara and I ate at Wasota African Cuisine. The owner Lawrence, was an absolute doll, and the food was some of the most flavorful and interesting food I've ever had. I was impressed by how good the food was and how affordable it was. I can't wait to go back and try more of Lawrence's authentic West African food. He is a truly talented chef!
What we had: We had 2 plates between us and it was more then enough food. We had the Black Eyed Peas and Plantains, and the Stewed Goat with Fufu and Egusi Soup.
