The Colorado River Ramble is Austin’s first annual canoe and kayak race on Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. Over 250 racers will compete. This unique river race will be held in conjunction with the Foundation’s 2nd Annual Family Clean Water Festival at the Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education at the LCRA Redbud Center. We expect over 400 Austinites to come out for this free, four hour community event to learn about the Colorado River and water conservation. Fun, hands-on activities, presentations, and booths by local non-profits educate youth and their families about our river. Festival activities include science experiments, fishing and kayak clinics, reptile and river bug shows, arts and crafts, games, and much more. Presentations will teach about the geology of the river, the river ecosystem, and water science. This year’s event will also include the Colorado River Ramble Awards Ceremony, educational door prizes, ‘green’ vendors, and live music provided by local musicians on the beautiful grounds of the Wilkerson Center. Come out on March 28th to promote conservation, protection, and appreciation of Austin’s lifeline, the Colorado River.
